If you follow me on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Google+ or even YouTube, you would have heard that I was in Montreal last weekend but kept the reason why I was there pretty hush-hush. I wasn’t in Montreal just for fun. It was serious business! Well, that’s not exactly true. The entire trip was fun but it was for a very specific purpose.
I’m a finalist in the La Vie en Rose Aqua Brand Ambassador Contest!
I saw online that La Vie en Rose Aqua and LouLou Magazine were holding a contest and figured I’d put my name out there even though I didn’t think I’d actually win it. There’s no harm in trying, right? I was SO surprised when I got the phone call saying that I was in the top 3 and they will be flying me out to Montreal for a weekend to partake in a photo shoot challenge.
OH MY GLOB!!
I can’t remember the last time I was so excited for something! And I get excited about everything!
Thursday night I arrived in Montreal. They set us up in rooms at the W Montreal Hotel which may be the swankiest place I will ever stay. I especially liked the giant tub in the room (rubber duck included) that I took full advantage of. I had dinner at the hotel restaurant, Otto, with the other 2 finalists. I had the grilled halibut with tomato and capers crust, chipotle, shrimp bisque braised coco beans, zucchini fries – amazing! 6AM the next day, my alarm went off and it was time to get this challenge started.
We arrived at the studio and met some of the LouLou Magazine staff, the photographer, the hair/makeup artists, and the videographers who were documenting the whole shoot. Before I knew it, it was time to start the challenge! We were given 15 minutes to pick out a “sporty beach” outfit. I thought it would have been really difficult with the time restraint but it was actually more than enough time. Claude Laframboise, style editor for LouLou Magazine, gave us some tips and advice on what we picked out and then it was time to head over to hair and makeup.
This was my first time being in a professional photo shoot. It was kinda weird. Not only the fact that I was standing there in a bathing suit with 10+ people staring at me, it was the whole situation. It was the fact that I had people doing my hair and makeup when I’m not use to getting fussed over. It was the fact that I was doing one little turn or step on repeat for the photographs. It reminded me of when I was a kid playing with the rewind and fastforward buttons on the VCR to make people do one funny movement/expression over and over again. It was awkward, but really fun.
After lunch, it was time for part 2 of the challenge. We were once again given 15 minutes to pick out a “tropical pool party” outfit. This was a little more fun to pick out especially with the array of jewelry and heels they had for us to chose from. Again, after a Claude gave us some advice on what we picked out, it was back to get hair and makeup done and another round of photos taken.
After all 3 of us finished our photos, it was back to the hotel to freshen up a little bit for the cocktail party. Here it was no longer about business (a.k.a. the challenge). This was a time to meet the people that made everything possible and just socialize after a long day of “work”.
So this is what it all comes down to… I need your help! The winner is chosen by the public. Head on over the LouLouMagazine Contest Website and submit a vote for me. If by April 10, I have the most votes, I’ll win an amazing trip to Mexico to not only experience the wonders of Mexico but attend the La Vie en Rose Aqua photo shoot (you know, the one with the actual model)… And of course, I’ll be sharing that adventure with you via blogs and social media!
… Oh, and a little bit of an incentive for you, by voting you’ll be entered to win 1 of 10 $100 La Vie en Rose Aqua gift cards. Trust me, after see and wearing this collection, you’ll want that gift card!
