Morocco is definitely a place of adventure. I felt like every step I took around this mysterious country was an adventure onto itself. If you need proof of that you can check out my post about the dizzy market known as Jemaa el Fna. However, there were a few moments of actual adventurous activities I participated in during my week long trip.
Check out the video I made about all the excitement:
What is a trip to morocco without a camel ride? There are opportunities to take a camel caravan into the Sahara Desert but we opted for the palm grove. Those grumpy old men of the animal kingdom were incredibly uncomfortable to ride with the constant lurching back and forth but it was still fun. I would recommend at least trying it out. Riding camels is something cool to say you’ve done.
Donkeys in the Mountains
Snow-peaked mountains are the last things I was expecting from morocco but alas, they were there. Now, I traveled to morocco with my parents so a hike to one of the peaks wasn’t part of the agenda like it would have been otherwise but we did get fairly close to them. We took donkeys 1100 meters into the Atlas Mountains to a small Berber village. I love donkeys so that was my favourite part but getting to see a slice of traditional Berber culture was an excellent experience as well. P.S. They had the most amazing food!!
If you want an adventurous activity, go off-roading! We saw that there were quads in the palm grove when we were riding camels and had to give that a shot before leaving Morocco. We took off along the rocky terrain kicking up dust the whole way. It’s definitely an adrenaline rush and among the most adventurous activity I’ve done during my travels.
Well, that is my Morocco adventure story! What are some of your favourite adventure activities while travelling?
