Photo Essay: Angkor Ruins

As a lover of history and an amateur photography enthusiast, seeing the temples of Angkor was high on my list of things to do in Southeast Asia. So, I took off on a 3 day long-weekend trip to Cambodia. I was not disappointed with this short trip to Cambodia. It was truly awe inspiring how detailed and vast the ruined temples were. The whole time in Cambodia, 3 thoughts that kept crossing my mind were:
1) “I really should have gone through with studying archaeology/geography instead of art.”
2) “This place would be amazing to play Hide and Seek in”
3) “I’m finally living my girlhood dream of being Lara Croft”

Without further adieu, my favourite photos from the ruins of Angkor

I would want to include the Angkor temples on the “7 Wonders of the New World” list. These were the most beautiful ruins that I’ve seen to date.

What were the most breathtaking ruins you’ve visited?

I’m seriously jealous you’ve made it here. The ruins look phenomenal and an epic game of hide and seek could definitely be had!

I need to make this a priority destination in my travel plans. Maybe early next year after exploring Latin America for a bit.

We’d have to be careful with the epic game of hide and seek though. Not all of the structures are stable. I almost re-ruined a pillar in a window while climbing through it. Which would have been extremely awkward and embarrassing seeing how there was a monk just on the other side. Haha!

Make it a priority. It’s definitely something to see! 🙂
